Working Together

Some of my clients already have a clear sense of what they want and need someone to help realize their vision. Others don’t know where to start, and I help them discover their style. I like working with clients who enjoy designing with me, or with those who just want to be presented with final selections. I design and prepare for our review meetings to be efficient with your time, but of course, I am available for further consultation at your convenience. If you want to add projects, or make changes this can be accommodated, however, it could result in changes to the scope.

Whether we are starting from a clean slate, renovating your home, or merely tweaking, my goal is to help create a space that reflects the way you live and expresses your aesthetic. All along the process, I partner with you, every step of the way.

There are a couple of ways in which I’ve worked with clients. Some are just looking for consultation, perhaps on paint colors, furniture arrangement, placement of art, you name it. For $250, I’ll come to your place for up to 90 minutes and we can go over anything and everything you’d like. During this time when we are all staying at home, I offer virtual consultations.

For full design projects, I work on a fixed-fee basis, which varies depending on the scope and size. Typically, there are five stages of this design process:

Stage 1.

Program Development

During the initial Program Development, we will walk through your space to understand the scope of the project—what is working and what isn’t. I will then establish a budget and timeline. Upon approval of each, I’ll embark on discovering your personal aesthetic. If you have collected inspiration photos, I’ll get a good sense of your style from reviewing those.

Stage 2.

Schematic Design

Next I’ll develop a Schematic Design, which establishes the functional arrangements of the space with representative furnishings and materials. You’ll receive concept sketches and scale drawings that convey how the space will be transformed.

Stage 3.

Final Design

Once the Schematic Design has been approved, I’ll set out to complete the Final Design, adding details and selecting the actual furniture and materials. At the Design Development meeting, I will present floor plans, elevation drawings, and perspective drawings, and you will approve the actual materials to be ordered.

Stage 4.

Construction Documents

Upon Final Design approval, I prepare the Construction Documents for your contractors and tradespeople to use in developing quotations and executing the design. The documentation will include drawings, dimensions, and specifications for the selected materials.

Stage 5.

Contract Administration

In the final Contract Administration phase, I will review the construction documents with your contractors, procure the furniture and materials, make regular visits to ensure design intent is actualized, and advocate for you if any issues arise.
